The installation will encompass over 7,500 solar panels spread across four buildings and two garages, along with solar canopies in the parking lot.
Additionally, the project will incorporate additional electric vehicle charging stations to accommodate 62 electric vehicles.
The solar installation, slated for completion by the end of 2024, forms part of AdventHealth’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving environmental objectives through on-site clean energy initiatives.
As a signatory of the U.S. Health and Human Services Health Sector Climate Pledge AdventHealth has pledged to slash greenhouse gas emissions from electricity by 50% by 2030. The health system is also in the process of establishing virtual power purchase agreements for large-scale renewable energy projects.
ESA, a national solar developer, is spearheading the solar installation project, which is set to become one of the largest privately owned corporate solar projects in Florida.
Moreover, Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) has recently completed construction and commenced operations of its 200-MW Horizon Solar Project in Texas.
The project is set to provide Verizon with renewable energy under a Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement (REPA), with estimated greenhouse gas emissions avoided equivalent to powering 1.2 million Texan households.
In addition to its environmental benefits, the project is expected to generate approximately $30 million in tax payments to support the local county and schools while also creating around 400 jobs during the construction phase.
