Congress’s social media in-charge Supriya Shrinate recently made objectionable remarks about actor Kangana Ranaut, sparking a political controversy between the Congress and BJP.

Shrinate issued a video clarification, claiming that the inappropriate post was made by a parody account named Supriya parody.

Kangana Ranaut’s Response

Kangana Ranaut responded by emphasizing the dignity every woman deserves and is scheduled to meet BJP president J.P. Nadda in Delhi.

Call for Action

National Commission for Women chief Rekha Sharma urged Sonia Gandhi to take action against Congress leaders for derogatory language, while BJP leaders called for Shrinate’s suspension and legal action.

However, Congress has not officially responded to the situation.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu referred to Kangana Ranaut as the “daughter of Himachal”, and Congress colleague Pawan Khera defended Shrinate, stating she would not use such language.

In a separate development, the Election Commission directed the chief electoral officer of Karnataka to take immediate appropriate action on a complaint filed by JD (S) president H D Deve Gowda.

The complaint alleged that Congress MP D K Suresh was planning the distribution of freebies, and the state poll machinery failed to act promptly.

The Election Commission asked the state CEO to take action in accordance with the model code of conduct and relevant laws, requesting a compliance report at the earliest.

This action was taken based on a complaint from former Prime Minister Gowda, who alleged that the state election machinery failed to prevent corrupt activities in the Bengaluru (Rural) Lok Sabha seat.

Allegedly, freebies were removed from a godown due to the field machinery’s failure to act, with Gowda also accusing concerned officers of dereliction of duties and fear of taking action against the present MP, who is the brother of D K Shivkumar, the deputy chief minister.
